President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year schedule, ahead of an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement released on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was disclosed that the President left the country on December 28 and will proceed to Abu Dhabi in early January to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit.
According to the statement, President Tinubu is attending the summit at the invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The gathering brings together global leaders from government, business and civil society to discuss pathways for sustainable development.
The presidency noted that the summit, held annually, focuses on shaping long-term solutions to global development challenges.
This year’s edition is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” a concept described as linking ambition with action across innovation, finance and people, while “showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence.”
The statement added that President Tinubu will return to Nigeria after concluding his participation at the summit.
