Morocco have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a 2-0 victory over Cameroon in their quarter-final match at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, marking their first appearance at this stage of the tournament in 22 years.
Goals from Brahim Díaz in the first half and Ismael Saibari in the second secured a clean sheet and a strong showing from the host nation in front of home supporters.
Díaz opened the scoring in the 26th minute, converting from close range after sustained pressure, while Saibari added the second in the 74th minute, ensuring Morocco’s dominance in the match and securing their place in the last four.
Cameroon, five-time AFCON champions, struggled to create clear goalscoring opportunities and did not register a shot on target, despite a brief penalty appeal late in the game that was not awarded by the referee.
The result extends Morocco’s strong defensive record in the tournament, with the hosts yet to concede a goal in open play ahead of the semi-final, where they will face the winner of the Algeria vs Nigeria quarter-final.
Morocco’s performance also reflects their consistent form in the competition, building on earlier victories including a narrow win over Tanzania in the round of 16.
Cameroon, who reached the knockout stage after finishing second in Group F, saw their tournament come to an end despite a competitive campaign that included a round of 16 victory over South Africa.
Morocco’s progression emphasises their tactical organisation and attacking effectiveness in front of their home crowd as they pursue a potential title run on home soil.
