Leeds United Secure Historic First Old Trafford Victory in 45 Years

Leeds United have recorded a landmark 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight, marking the club’s first league win at the stadium since 1981.

A first-half brace from Noah Okafor proved decisive as Daniel Farke’s side capitalized on a disciplined tactical setup to secure three vital points, moving the Yorkshire club six points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with six matches remaining in the campaign.

The 32nd-round fixture shifted significantly in the first half as Leeds exploited uncharacteristic defensive lapses from the hosts.

In the 26th minute, Noah Okafor clinicaly finished a pinpoint cross to give the visitors a lead against the run of play.

The Swiss forward doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute with a powerful volley that took a slight deflection before beating Lucas Perri.

Manchester United’s difficulties were compounded in the 68th minute when Lisandro Martínez was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin following a VAR review, leaving Michael Carrick’s side to navigate the final 20 minutes with ten men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Manchester United generated late pressure and reduced the deficit in the 80th minute through Casemiro, who headed home a Bruno Fernandes corner.

The closing stages were defined by defensive resilience from Leeds, including a critical goal-line clearance by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and several saves from Karl Darlow.

The victory represents a historic milestone for Leeds United, ending a 45-year drought at Old Trafford and providing a significant boost to their survival aspirations after a run of six league matches without a win.

Leeds United climb to 15th place on 34 points, establishing a six-point buffer over 18th-placed Leicester City.

For Manchester United, the defeat stalls their pursuit of a top-four finish, leaving them seven points clear of sixth place but having played a game more than their immediate rivals.

The historical weight of the victory is expected to serve as a cultural catalyst for the Leeds faithful as they prepare for their upcoming FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
