Manchester United and Bournemouth played out a dramatic 4-4 draw at Old Trafford in a Premier League match on Monday, with Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi scoring a late equaliser in the 84th minute to deny United all three points.
United had taken the lead through Amad Diallo and Casemiro, but Bournemouth responded through Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson before Marcus Tavernier’s free kick put them ahead. United came back with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha to lead 4-3 before Kroupi ensured the draw.
The stalemate leaves Manchester United in sixth place on 26 points, while Bournemouth sit 13th on 21 points.
Speaking after the match, United manager Ruben Amorim told BBC Sport that he was frustrated at the outcome despite his side’s attacking output. He said, “It’s really disappointing. We are really disappointed. Crazy game. It might look like we lost the two points in the second half but I think we lost them in the first half. We dominated and created so many chances. We had to go to half-time with a different result. In the end we deserved more.”
Amorim also pointed to missed opportunities and game management, adding, “We need to be more clinical because we created so many chances. We need to find ways of closing the games because this happened many times. That’s part of the process.”
The result leaves Manchester United reflecting on defensive lapses after scoring four goals at home, while Bournemouth take a valuable away point from a match that featured multiple momentum swings and eight goals overall.
