Chelsea Suffer Fourth Straight Loss as Everton Close Gap

Everton moved to within two points of the top six tonight with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over a struggling Chelsea side at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

A clinical double from Bissau-Guinean forward Beto and a late strike from Iliman Ndiaye secured all three points for David Moyes’ men, condemning Liam Rosenior’s side to their fourth consecutive defeat across all competitions and extending the London club's goal drought to over 300 minutes.

The contest began with Chelsea enjoying a period of sustained possession, but the tactical complexion shifted in the 33rd minute.

Following a precise through ball from James Garner, Beto outpaced Wesley Fofana to fire a right-footed shot into the bottom corner, marking his fifth Premier League goal of the campaign.

Chelsea attempted to respond through Roméo Lavia and Cole Palmer, but the visitors lacked a clinical edge, failing to register a single shot on target during a disjointed first half.

The second period followed a similar pattern of Everton efficiency on the transition.

In the 62nd minute, Idrissa Gana Gueye intercepted a misplaced pass from Moisés Caicedo and surged 50 yards before slipping a pass to Beto; the striker’s effort on the turn slithered through the legs of Robert Sánchez to double the advantage.

The victory was finalized in the 76th minute when Beto won a dominant header from a Jordan Pickford goal kick, allowing Iliman Ndiaye to find space in the area and guide a finish past Sánchez to spark wild celebrations in the home end.

The result has significant ramifications for the European qualification race. Everton’s victory lifts them into seventh place on 46 points, trailing sixth-place Chelsea (48) by just two points.

For the Blues, the defeat caps a bruising seven-day period that included a Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

With key defenders Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah sidelined by injury, Rosenior’s tactical stability is under increasing scrutiny as the club enters the final stretch of the season.

Chelsea will now look to regroup during the international break before an FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale, while Everton travel to face Brentford on April 11.

The "Toffees" have now won back-to-back home league games for the first time this season, establishing a vital platform as they push for a return to continental competition.
